FAQ Answers
1. Registering options
Stand Alone, Inc.'s software is called 'demoware', which means that we allow our users to try our software, fully
functional, for 30 days. After 30 days, our software expires and will 'lock' you out of the program until you
register it. In order to register our software, you must purchase it. However, once you purchase our software,
the registration is a lifetime registration which also allows you free upgrades!
There are several ways you may order your registration code from us:
You can order online at this website, using our shopping cart
(Please Note: Our Shopping Cart requires that you use a current browser such as Internet Explorer 4.5 or better,
due to security precautions.)
Or you can email us at sales@standalone.com
Please have the following information ready when you contact us:

4. What is my User Name, and how can I find it?
Your Palm User Name is the name that you assign your Palm Powered® handheld when you first perform a HotSync. If you have not, or are unable to
perform a HotSync, please see Question #5: What is my Serial Number and how can I find it?.
Your Palm User name can be easily found by taking the following steps:
On your Palm OS device, open the program you are trying to register.
If your program has expired, tap on 'Enter Registration Code' or 'Enter Password'
If your program is still active, tap on your Menu Button
Then tap on 'Options', followed by 'Enter Registration Code' or 'Enter Password'.
Your Palm User Name is displayed on the following screen as 'User Name'.
If your Palm User Name reads as 'No Name Entered', please look underneath your User Name where it says Serial Number. Please use this
instead of your Palm User Name.
Please Note: If your Palm User Name reads as 'No Name Entered' AND your serial number reads as
999999999 or ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ, you CANNOT register our programs.
Please HotSync your Palm so we can generate a registration code for you.
If you need assistance HotSyncing your Palm OS device, please consult your Palm OS device manual.
5. What is my Serial Number and how can I find it?
Your Palm Powered® Handheld's Serial Number is a unique number assigned only to your handheld. Unfortunately, some handhelds do
not have these serial numbers.
There are two different ways you can find your Serial Number:
If your Stand Alone, Inc. program has expired, enter the program and tap on 'Enter Registration Code' or 'Enter Password'. Your Serial
Number will be listed on this screen.
If your Stand Alone, Inc. programs have yet to expire, just enter into the program and tap on your menu button
After the menu appears, tap on 'Options' and then tap on 'Enter Registration Code' or 'Enter Password'. On the following screen you should
see your Serial Number.
Please Note: If your Palm User Name reads as 'No Name Entered' AND your Serial Number reads as
999999999 or ÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ, you CANNOT register our programs" indicates that both scenarios must exist simultaneously in order to cause a problem.
Otherwise, if you have at least a User Name that reads anything other than "No Name Entered, you can proceed with the registration.
6. Reg code doesn't work
It's possible that you have provided us the wrong User Name or Serial number. Stand Alone, Inc registration codes
are generated based on either an individual's Palm device user name or serial number, using an algorithm. Each
user requires a separate registration. Each registration requires it's own separate charge per application. Multiple
users cannot register simultaneously. This would result in a registration code based on the combination of names.
International characters cannot be recognized by our registration code generator. If you have such a character
within your user name, please make sure that you provide your Palm User Serial Number. Likewise, we will not
generate registration codes for the user name "No Name Entered". If you currently have this as your user name, it
can be corrected with you Palm Desktop software by following the user manual's instructions.
7. How do I delete the application?
In order to delete a program from your Palm OS device, at you Palm Main Menu you need to tap on your 'Menu' button
(located right by the 'ABC' text on your graffiti pad). Then, under 'App' tap on 'Delete'. A new screen with a list of all of
your programs will come up on the screen. Just tap on the program you want to delete, then tap on 'Delete' to remove
the program from your Palm OS device. Instructions detailing the removal of applications can be found within your
Palm Handbook.
Some of our applications (Clipper, Control Bar, Ender, Quick Access, QuickSwitch and SpellMan) cannot be deleted until
the application has been disabled. To disable any of these applications, simply tape button labeled "Disable", or uncheck
the box labeled "Enable" (found in the Preferences menu of the application). Once disabled, the application can be
deleted as any other.
8. Why did I receive two emails? Have I been charged twice?
When registering software through our website, you receive two e-mails as a result of a redundant processing method.
Essentially, one e-mail was generated by the website at the moment you completed your order, and the other by our
customer database once your registration information was saved. There is only one charge applied during this process.
9.Where is my Menu icon?
Located in the lower left corner of your Palm device, to the left of the Grafitti Pad by the "abc", below the
"House/Home/Launcher" icon. It often has a downward pointing arrow associated with it and looks like this:
10. Winzip (zipped files)?
If you do not currently have WinZip on your computer for unzipping compressed files, you can obtain it for free direct from
their website. Visit http://www.winzip.com and download the "evaluation version" for installation. Once it is installed, you
will be able to unzip any compressed files you may encounter.
11. Upgrading Palm and maintaining user name.

using an algorithm. Each user requires a separate registration. Thusly, when upgrading from one Palm device to another, we
suggest that you follow the instructions within the manual you received when you purchased your Palm device. These
instructions can be found on:
